Trevor Donovan has signed to star in Jack Gill’s The Devil’s Train as the lead character of Hondo, a Hollywood stuntman with a double life as a time-traveling cowboy.

Donovan is set to perform most his own stunts for the physically demanding role. He recently wrapped production on Ethan Almighty, in which he stars as Dr. Eric Davidson alongside Sean Patrick Flanery and Selma Blair. He is currently filming the fourth season of When Hope Calls.

Written by Matthew Dickens and produced by Cliffhanger Cowboys, the movie follows Hondo as he attempts to rob the titular treasure-laden Devil’s Train, encountering multiple time periods and traps as he moves from car to car, looking for clues on how to break into the treasure vault.

Veteran stuntman Gill (Fast & Furious, Captain America: Civil War) is set to direct the picture, bringing his signature style born out of his long stunt coordination experience to the genre-bending action-sci-fi-Western picture.

“Trevor brings the exact grit and presence we need for Hondo. We are designing a massive, never-before-seen practical stunt for this film, and having an actor who can actually step up and deliver in the middle of it is going to blow audiences away and make racing history,” said Dickens.

The film is scheduled to begin a 16-week principal photography schedule in the fall of 2026, shooting on location in Arizona, Australia, and California.

The film is adapted from an original story by Dickens based on his unpublished novel, which he turned into a comic book series released by L.A. based publisher Bliss On Tap.
