EXCLUSIVE: Peacock is tripling down on the creative team behind its hit limited series All Her Fault. In a highly competitive situation, Carnival Films, part of Universal International Studios, has won the rights to develop All Her Fault author Andrea Mara‘s latest bestselling novel, Such a Nice Girl. The project has landed at Peacock with All Her Fault creator Megan Gallagher writing and executive producing.
The 2021 All Her Fault became the first book by Irish crime novelist Mara to get a screen adaptation when Peacock made it into a limited series with Gallagher, Carnival Films and UIS, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Following All Her Fault’s breakout success, Peacock re-teamed with Gallagher and Carnival Films for The Break-In, an adaption of the novel by Katherine Faulkner, with Gallagher again writing and executive producing. The limited series was just greenlighted by the NBCU streamer.
That is now being followed in the development pipeline by Such a Nice Girl, based on Mara’s novel which became an instant bestseller upon its April 28 publication by Bantam Press.
“Such a Nice Girl is exactly the kind of project we look for — smart, propulsive and immediately compelling,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBC & Peacock. “With Andrea’s gripping novel, Megan adapting and Carnival as partners, this project has real momentum right out of the gate.”
In Such A Nice Girl, the morning after a glamorous luxury wedding, best friends Siobhan and Grace go to wake their 24-year-old daughters. Opening the door to their shared room, they find a smashed lamp, an abandoned phone and blood on the carpet. Over the next few days, the truth unravels and tests Siobhan and Grace’s friendship to its limits. As secrets and lies begin to come to light, they realize the girls were not best friends. In fact, they weren’t really friends at all. And now, it looks like one of them is dead and one is a killer. But whose daughter is guilty of murder?
“Such A Nice Girl is such a smart, engaging story. Twists and turns galore, but also a deep and satisfying exploration of female friendship,” Gallagher said. “I’m incredibly excited and grateful that Andrea Mara has allowed me the opportunity to adapt. And working again with both Carnival Films and Peacock makes all of it just perfect.”
Carnival Films’ Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant will serve as executive producers alongside Gallagher and Mara. UIS is the studio.
“We couldn’t be more excited that Andrea has trusted Carnival Films again with her brilliant new novel, Such a Nice Girl,” said Marchant, Co-Executive Chair, Carnival Films. “With the wonderful Megan Gallagher adapting and developing alongside our partners at Peacock, we’re thrilled to bring this team together again for a brand-new original series.”
Released in November, All Her Fault, starring Sarah Snook, became Peacock’s biggest original launch to date, amassing 45 million hours viewed in its first four weeks.
“I was blown away by the adaptation of All Her Fault and absolutely ecstatic that Such a Nice Girl is in the hands of the extraordinarily talented Megan Gallagher and the incredible team at Carnival Films,” Mara said. “I can’t wait to see where they’ll take this story.”
The Oslo-based, American-born Gallagher created, wrote, and executive produced the Critics Choice and Golden Globe-nominated All Her Fault, which also stands as Sky’s highest-performing drama of 2025. Gallagher was writer and executive producer on BBC’s psychological crime thriller Wolf. Her upcoming projects include The Blame, an ITV drama starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, on which she serves as lead writer and executive producer.
Mara, who has written nine novels and sold over 1 million copies in the UK and Ireland, is repped by Marjacq Scripts on behalf of DHH.
