EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Maxwell Jenkins, one of the stars of Netflix’s upcoming Scooby-Doo: Origins, for representation in all areas.
We’re told this was a highly competitive situation spanning the Big 3 agencies and beyond. The pursuit of Jenkins extended for a week and a half to two weeks. This ws off buzz surrounding his performance in the live-action Scooby-Doo series, created by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, where he takes on the iconic role of Mystery Inc.’s Fred Jones. The show, where he stars alongside Mckenna Grace, Tanner Hagen, Abby Ryder Fotson and Paul Walter Hauser, is eyeing a 2027 release.
Most recently, Jenkins has been seen starring alongside Kevin Bacon in the Prime Video/Blumhouse series The Bondsman. Additionally, he recently made his producing debut on Rush, a WWII drama in which he plays the title role.
Jenkins first garnered attention for his turn as Will Robinson in Netflix’s Lost in Space, which ran for three seasons. Additional film credits include SXSW-premiering thriller Arcadian, opposite Nicolas Cage and Jaeden Martell, and Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Joe Bell, alongside Mark Wahlberg and Connie Britton. On television, Jenkins starred in Apple TV+’s drama Dear Edward, created by Jason Katims, also recurring as a young version of the title character in Amazon’s hit series Reacher and appearing in both seasons of the Wachowski siblings’ Netflix series Sense8.
A Chicago native, Jenkins began performing at age three as an acrobat in his family’s theatrical circus, Midnight Circus. He continues to be represented by Gilbertson Entertainment, Platform Public Relations and Myman Greenspan Fox.
