Danny Ramirez is the latest star to join the cast of the upcoming new Miami Vice ’85 movie!
On Thursday (August 27), Deadline announced that the 33-year-old Top Gun: Maverick actor will be starring alongside Michael B Jordan and Austin Butler in the latest feature adaptation of the classic ’80s crime series.
As of right now, Danny‘s character details are being kept under wraps.
Danny – who grew up in Miami – shared his casting news on Instagram, playfully writing, “I’m coming home.”
What is Miami Vice ’85 about?
The upcoming movie “explores the glamour and corruption of the mid-’80s Miami in an all new version,” and is inspired by the first episode of the 1980s TV series. Joseph Kosinski will be directing the movie for Universal from a script written by Dan Gilroy.
It was previously announced that Michael will be playing Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs with Austin playing Sonny Crockett.
The cast also includes Camila Morrone, Alden Ehrenreich and Whitney Peak.
Miami Vice ’85 is set to be filmed for IMAX, with production starting later this year. The movie is currently slated for a May 19, 2028 release.
