Luke Grimes is sharing his insight into where things stand between him and former Yellowstone co-star Kevin Costner.
Kevin, 71, exited the series in 2024 and Luke told USA Today in a recent interview that he hasn’t spoken to Kevin since they stopped working together.
“Not for any other reason other than we are both just busy guys and life moves on,” he clarified.
Luke plays Kayce Dutton in the Yellowstone universe, which started with the flagship show and continues even now on the CBS spinoff show Marshals, on which he stars.
As for whether Kevin might ever reprise his role as Kayce’s dad John Dutton, Luke said it doesn’t seem likely, adding that if “there was a flashback,” he would want it to be Kayce’s wife Monica instead.
“I think that would be more poignant to the character, but we will see,” he said. “There’s been no conversation, but, I sure would love it,” adding that he loved working with Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica on the show.
Marshals is the fourth overall show in the Yellowstone universe and follows Kayce as he joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit in Montana. The series is currently in its second season.
Yellowstone creator was slammed with a lawsuit over the series in August.
