EXCLUSIVE: Jordan Firstman‘s feature directorial debut, Club Kid, which excited Cannes in its Un Certain Regard world premiere as well as A24, which took global rights to the pic, is hitting theaters on Nov. 6 in a limited release.

That’s the same weekend where A24 launched Greta Gerwing’s 5x Oscar nominated Lady Bird.

The movie, which follows Firstman as a hard-partying New York City club promoter, whose life is upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had, remains at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics. Firstman also wrote the movie.

The pic received a seven minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere with actress Cara Delevingne teared up. A24 reportedly beat out multiple bidders for a pick-up price in the high teens millions.

Deadline film critic Damon Wise described the film as “an unlikely but still beautifully human story” and praised Firstman’s ” elegant switch into a more serious tone, one that addresses all the questions you might have had about this man and his fitness to raise a kid.”
