Rosanna Scotto had an emotional return to Good Day New York.

The 68-year-old anchor returned Tuesday (September 1) following the death of her mother Marion Scotto, who died at age 90.

During the broadcast, BJ. Thomas‘ “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” played ahead ahead of the weather forecast and unexpectedly reminded Rosanna of her parents, causing her to tear up.

“Sorry, sorry. This song reminds me of my parents,” she said, before thanking everyone for their comments and text messages.

Rosanna added, “My mother would kill me right now if she saw me crying on the air, so we’re going to get it together.”

Rosanna returned to work because that’s what her mom would have wanted

Rosanna later said in an Instagram video that she was getting “back to work” because it’s what her mom would have wanted.

After Rosanna‘s father died, she said Marion had the family right back to work at their restaurant same night.

“It’s time to get back to work. Mom would have wanted that. In fact, after Dad died, she had us back in the restaurant that night. I’ve taken more time than she would have allowed, if she was around. So thank you, thank you, thank you. See you on Good Day,” Rosanna shared.

Who was Marion Scotto?

Marion was considered the heart of the family’s Fresco by Scotto restaurant. Marion mortgaged the family’s Brooklyn home to help launch the restaurant decades ago.

Rosanna announced her mother’s death last week. Many of her fellow journalists and celebrity friends like Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, Andy Cohen, Debi Mazar, Melissa Gorga, and more have sent her their condolences and wishes.
