JustWatch, which was founded in 2014, announced the launch of JustWatch TV on Tuesday at the Toronto Film Festivalâs new market.
Content partners providing film and TV titles for the new service include Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media, among others. Initially, titles will be non-exclusive, though in time exclusive windows could be carved out, executives say.
JustWatch draws 50 million monthly users, guiding them to programming on more than 1,500 streaming services worldwide. David CroyĂ©, founder and CEO of the JustWatch Group, said the new initiative builds on the companyâs core mission of matching viewers with titles they want to watch. âWith the launch of JustWatch TV, we aim to make content discovery, access and engagement even easier,â he said.
Quentin Carbonell, SVP of global content acquisitions and strategy, views JustWatch TV as âa straightforward solution at a time of fragmentation.â By either directly enabling free or transactional viewing, or by routing viewers to third-party services, he said, the company âaims to support the whole industry, from filmmakers to distributors to streaming platforms across the world.â
