EXCLUSIVE: Black Box Management has signed actor and comedian Rob Lathan on the heels of his turn in Amazon’s Emmy-nominated workplace comedy Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat.

Corporate Retreat is the second season of Jury Duty, the series putting a fresh reality-hoax spin on the talking head mockumentary format, which has broken out as one of the most popular comedies of recent years. Whereas Season 1 took place in a jury duty setting — dropping the unsuspecting San Diego solar contractor Ronald Gladden into a hidden-camera world populated by professional actors playing out carefully orchestrated scripts — Season 2 focused on Anthony Norman, a 25-year-old from Nashville who believed he was participating in a documentary on the day-to-day of a small business after being “hired” as a temporary worker at a family-owned hot sauce company, but wound up yet another unsuspecting reality-hoax hero.

In Season 2, Lathan plays Other Anthony, an earnest, oblivious employee with an offbeat comedic voice. Before landing the role, he honed his voice performing at Upright Citizens Brigade, where he developed the improvisational style that has become his trademark.

Black Box is an L.A.-based talent management and production company founded by CAA veteran Mike Dill and WME alum Lowell Shapiro, who met as kids at summer camp. Repping writers, directors, actors, documentary filmmakers and content creators, the company’s roster includes Sue Kim, who is completing Sony’s doc on Lisa from Blackpink; John Patton Ford, whose A24 film How to Make a Killing starring Glen Powell debuted earlier this year; and Harper Dill, writer of the Jennifer Lopez rom-com Marry Me, who is currently penning multiple projects for Amazon and preparing her feature directorial debut, based on her personal experience during the 2025 Palisades fires.

In a statement on their latest signing, Black Box’s principals told us, “Rob is the best. We’ve known Rob for a while, and we don’t really know many people funnier than him.”

Beyond management, Black Box continues to grow its producing slate, with a half-hour comedy in development with Fierce Baby Productions, an unscripted series alongside Propagate Media, and a scripted adaptation of the HBO Max documentary American Pain.

Lathan continues to be represented by Grace Kallis at Ginsburg Daniels.
