Nearly one year after he and his wife Alba Baptista welcomed their daughter Alma Grace, the Marvel star reflected on the “unexpected” part of being dad to his baby girl.

“It sounds a little cheesy, but not to other parents: How much you miss them,” Evans told The Dodo in an interview published Aug. 18. “We'll put her down for a nap and I just want to see what she's looking like on the baby monitor.”

In fact, the 45-year-old—who tied the knot with Baptista in 2023—added, “You miss her while you're holding her, you know what I mean? It's a strange feeling. You just want to be around her all the time.”

But Evans isn’t the only family member wanting quality time with his little one. Indeed, he said his dog Dodger has been an “incredible” big brother to Alma.

“He's so loving. He's so protective,” the Knives Out actor said. “He'll sleep outside her room when she's napping. He has a great instinct for young things, whether it's a person or a puppy. He's very gentle.” 

But Evans—who adopted Dodger after filming a scene for the 2017 movie Gifted—isn’t surprised by how quickly his dog has taken a liking to Alma. After all, he said the pup has been paws-itively sweet for years.

“Back when I first brought him home over 10 years ago, my sister's kids were much younger,” the Captain America actor continued. “Tug of war with me is a battle. Tug of war with my niece? He just knew how to turn the volume down.” 

As Evans described watching Dodger’s gentleness, “It was really sweet, and he’s done that with my daughter, and it warms the heart.”

The Marvel actor and the Warrior Nun star began dating in mid-2021, according to multiple outlets. However, they didn't confirm their romance publicly until 2022, when they stepped out together in public for the first time hand-in-hand. 

Chris made his relationship with Alba Instagram official by posting a video montage of the two in 2023.

In February 2023, the Avengers actor posted a series of pictures and videos of himself and Alba in honor of Valentine's Day. The two were seen hiking, kissing, traveling, carving pumpkins, and playing with Dodger.

After two years of dating, the couple tied the knot in an intimate Massachusetts ceremony. The Avengers alum later confirmed their nupitials by showing off his wedding ring the following month. 

"I got married," Chris told the audience at New York Comic Con in October 2023, drawing cheers. "It was really, really great."

In 2025, Chris and Alba confirmed they were expecting their first baby together after two years of marriage. 

And in June of that year, the Materialists actor couldn't contain how blissful marriage had been for the couple. 

"It's incredible," Chris effused to E! News in June 2025. "It's wonderful."

The couple welcomed their daughter in October of that year.

Chris and Alba hit the red carpet at the 2026 Oscars in March, marking their first public appearance since welcoming their baby girl in October.
