Matty Healy‘s mum, Denise Welch has revealed that Tiny Habits sang the first dance at The 1975 frontman and Gabbriette Bechtel’s wedding.

Healy and former Nasty Cherry musician and model Gabbriette tied the knot last month in a star-studded ceremony at Castillo del LagoMadonna‘s former estate in Los Angeles.

Their guests included Charli XCX and her husband, George Daniel – also Healy’s bandmate – as well as Anastasia Karanikolaou, Fai Khadra, Alex Consani, Devon Lee Carlson and her fiancé, Duke Nicholson, Sydney Lynn Carlson, Tyrell Hampton, Alex O’Connor, and Quenlin Blackwell.

Prior to their wedding, Healy performed at his own Malibu stag do with a 1975 tribute band, with footage showing the frontman singing along to ‘The Sound’ with the tribute band, before requesting his doppelgänger join him on stage.

Now, at a listening party/pop up gig for Tiny Habits’ upcoming album ‘Keepers’, at St Pancras Old Church in Camden tonight (August 7), Welch, who was hosting the show, revealed the former NME Cover stars had the honour of performing at her son’s wedding.

She went on to say that Healy “found them through Instagram but then Gabi surprised him with tickets for James Taylor and Tiny Habits were supporting and he fell in love with them.”

Footage of that night was shared by his then fiancée, who took to TikTok to reveal that the legendary songwriter is Healy’s favourite artist of all time, and filmed him looking ecstatic at various points throughout the show.

Healy and the band have since covered Taylor’s classic 1968 song ‘Carolina In My Mind’ and shared their recent collaboration ‘Anything He Was’.

Welch said that the latter “went absolutely viral” adding: “They haven’t asked me to [do a song with them] yet but the night is young.”

‘Keepers’ is set for release on on August 28 via Mom+Pop Music and can be purchased for pre-order here.

Healy and Gabbriette confirmed their engagement at a Charli XCX show in 2024. Welch, later said she’d “known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged”. She added at the time: “We couldn’t be happier, she is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.”

As for The 1975, the band have told fans that two albums are in the works. One of those albums will be called ‘DOGS’, a word the band mysteriously flashed at the end of their giant Glastonbury headline performance last year.
