Kara Bosworth is doing whatever she can for her mom.
Amid The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Jeana Keough's battle with tongue cancer, her daughter shared a plea for support.
"After surgery to remove the cancer, we were hopeful that the hardest part was behind her," Bosworth wrote on a GoFundMe page for her mom. "But when doctors recommended a second surgery to remove lymph nodes, they discovered the cancer had spread. What we thought would be a one-time surgery became a full cancer battle."
She noted that the 70-year-oldâwho starred on the Bravo show from 2006 to 2010âis weeks into her chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy.Â
"The treatments are relentless," she continued. "She is exhausted, struggling to stay awake, and becoming malnourished because the pain in her tongue and throat makes swallowing even the smallest bites or sips incredibly difficult. Every day is a battle just to get enough nutrition and hydration to continue treatment."
Bosworth noted that the family has also been experiencing "an enormous financial burden" since much of Keough's work is commission-based.Â
Despite it all, the 37-year-old still feels a sense of gratitude, especially because of the support they've received.Â
"Your generosity will remind her that she is not fighting this battle alone," she wrote in the post. "Whether you're able to donate, share this page, or simply keep Jeana in your prayers, thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and support mean more to our family than we can express."
It's especially comforting since Bosworthâmom to kids Decker, 10, Vaughn, 5, Stetson, 2, with husband Kyle Bosworth, as well as late son McCoyâand her brothers Shane Keough and Colton Keough haven't been able to spend as much time with their mom.
"Living across the country in Florida with young children has made Shane and me feel painfully helpless throughout much of this journey," she admitted. "With no direct flights between us, we've often wished we could simply be there to help with the everyday things that become overwhelming during cancer treatment."
Though she's currently in California, she knows she has to return home soon.
"Now that I'm here in Orange County and seeing firsthand what she's facing, I realize even more how much support she needsânot just while I'm here, but after I return home," she added. "My brothers and I want to help make sure Mom feels cared for, loved, and supported throughout this fight."
