Ice Nine Kills is No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart for the first time, ranking atop the July 4-dated survey with “Twisting the Knife.”
The track features Mckenna Grace, who also snags her first ruler. The actress-singer accomplishes the feat with her first song to ever reach a Billboard ranking.
Ice Nine Kills first appeared on Mainstream Rock Airplay in 2019, with “A Grave Mistake,” which reached No. 9. The Spencer Charnas-led rockers have added seven appearances on the tally since, with that track and 2025’s “The Great Unknown” their highest charting tunes prior to “Twisting the Knife.” (Charnas has a previous rule on his own as a featured vocalist on The Funeral Portrait‘s “Suffocate City” in 2024.)
Concurrently, “Twisting the Knife” ranks at No. 10 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 2.7 million audience impressions in the week ending June 25, a gain of 2%, according to Luminate. The song rose to No. 9 on the June 27 list and is by far Ice Nine Kills’ highest reaching song on the survey, having exceeded the No. 33 peak of “The Great Unknown.”
“Twisting the Knife” debuted at No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart dated March 7 and has led for two weeks so far, also marking Ice Nine Kills’ and Grace’s first leader. It’s No. 5 on the latest edition, with 705,000 chart-eligible streams in the United States in addition to its aforementioned radio impressions.
The song was recorded for the soundtrack to Scream 7, which premiered Feb. 27; Grace appears in the film as Hannah Thurman. Ice Nine Kills’ most recent album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart in October 2021 and has earned 316,000 equivalent album units to date.
