Alia Shawkat is responding to the years-long rumors that she dated Brad Pitt.
While on Watch What Happens Live promoting The Wrong Girls, that whole time period was brought up.
Why were Alia Shawkat and Brad Pitt the subject of dating rumors?
Alia and Brad first sparked romance rumors while attending an art exhibit event back in November 2019 and then fans discovered that they had actually been out and about together several times in the past as well.
In 2020, Alia was spotted riding her bike away from Brad‘s gated community in Los Angeles. At the time, despite their frequent hang outs, sources said that they were “just friends.”

“I was obsessed with the Brad Pitt dating rumors. How did they start? How did that come to be?” Andy Cohen said.
“Oh God, of course you were,” Alia said in response, to which her co-star Kristen Stewart also said, “Me too. I was enthralled.”
“This is my favorite question to get asked. Um, no. He’s just my friend. We became friends. Spike Jonze introduced us. It sounds all very chic and Hollywood. But we met, and he’s really into art and he’s very cool and we became friends. And everyone thought we were dating, because if you stand next to him, everyone thinks you’re dating. Like, even his own mother,” Alia explained.
About the frenzy over the rumors, she shared, “My grandmother saved Us Weekly. I was on the cover of it. There was a really bad photo, it was him and me being like ‘ooh!’ And they were like ‘Who’s the new girl?’ And my Arabic grandmother [was excited]. I was like ‘I’ve been working in film for 30 years, you’ve never seen anything, but you love this.’”
“Again, it’s only cred for you, as far as I’m concerned,” Andy said to her, which prompted her to respond, “Totally. He’s great, he’s the coolest.”
