The Righteous Gemstones actor had the most wholesome reaction after a photo of him attending the 2015 premiere of Vacation went viral, with many social media users creating memes around it to describe a relatable childhood experience.
"The kid you befriend at the hotel pool for the entire day as a kid and then never hear from ever again," one fan captioned Gisondo's photo, while another quipped that the 30-year-old "looks like he'd break his arm at recess and come back with a green cast."
Others also reveled at how Gisondo reminded them of a classmate who "def left school early for a dentist appointment and came back with McDonald's for lunch" or a childhood friend who "spun tf out of those Beyblades" and "had a CRAZY peanut allergy."
"People are using him as an escape to return back to childhood memories of school and activities they used to do," one social media user explained. "He is the perfect decoy.”
As it turns out, the meme pretty much nailed the Primetime star's real-life vibe. As he commented under an Oct. 1 Instagram post featuring his memes, "Shockingly no peanut allergy, but otherwise feeling really seen here."
In fact, Gisondo had a little fun with his online fanbase, changing his Instagram profile picture to the one used in the meme.
"My favorite one was, ‘This guy looks like he could do a crazy trick on the trampoline’ or something," he told Vanity Fair in an interview published last month, noting that "as an actor, the dream is to make stuff that means something to people, that they care about and that resonates."
"To see that reflected in this way, whether it’s in memes, or just in any kind of positive sentiment, it’s so sweet and fulfilling," he continued, adding he has "no idea" why he's become a beloved internet meme. "I try to maintain a healthy but appreciative distance from all of it."
