Florence Pugh is on the cover of Vanity Fair‘s new issue for October 2026 and she remained tight-lipped in the interview when asked about some sensitive subjects.
The Oscar-nominated actress, 30, has some very exciting projects coming out this fall that she’s hard at work promoting. Her Netflix limited series East of Eden drops on Netflix on October 1 and she stars in the two blockbuster movies Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, both hitting theaters on December 18.
In her Vanity Fair interview, Florence was asked to talk about the rumored feud between her and Don’t Worry Darling director Olivia Wilde, which she didn’t want to talk about. She was also asked about dating Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole.

On separating herself from the complicated women she plays:
“I think it’s just really important to remind everyone, and also remind myself, that I am not these women…but it is my job to understand them and portray them in a way that maybe you could potentially understand them too. I wouldn’t live life like them; I wouldn’t do the things that they do. That’s not my point of playing them. It’s to figure them out to a point that when I do those awful acts, they are believable.”
On stepping back from social media and becoming “more invested in real stuff”:
“I guess maybe I’m not addicted to it anymore…I think ultimately it’s probably going to become more of a business account. At this point in my life, I’m more invested in real stuff, and I’m forgetting to post. Which is lovely.”
On the fickleness of fame and how Hollywood treats women:
“I know that everybody in this industry has rises and falls. I’m not an idiot. I’ve seen that happen to loads of people, especially women. We love to build them up, and we love to bring them down.”
On why she hasn’t publicly told her side of the story on rumored difficulties with Olivia Wilde:
“Oh, no. I feel like there’s so much stuff we’ve covered that is important for me and on track with my life and my career.”
On if she’s seen Olivia Wilde’s new movie The Invite:
“I haven’t, but I’ve heard it’s fantastic, and a great cast. Great cast.”
On why she is tight-lipped about her partner, Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole:
“I don’t want to be a secret, but I also don’t want everything to be divulged. The important thing is that we’re happy, and I feel solid and safe and sturdy. And that’s worth its weight in gold in our lives. I actually asked him, ‘I wonder if you’re going to come up?’”— meaning during our interview. “He said, ‘Well, shall I pop by?’”
On future ambitions include directing — and creating positive sets:
“I don’t like messy sets. I want people to come to work and work, and enjoy that it’s a luxury to do this. When moods change on set, it’s because someone is preventing that from happening, and that’s what makes people feel like they haven’t been cared for.”
