Things will start to go bump in the Broadway night next week, and one horrormeister will be there as theatergoers witness it.

Jason Blum is set to host a special performance of the play Paranormal Activity on Wednesday, August 26, at the August Wilson Theatre. The Blumhouse founder is a producer on the show, which opens the night before after a week-plus of previews that began last week. Watch a new trailer for the production below.

The play takes Manhattan as Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount Pictures are producing an eighth installment of creator Oren Peli’s lucrative found-footage movie franchise that’s set to hit theaters early next summer.

Written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, the original story inspired by the film franchise — which has generated more than $900 million at the global box office — “reimagines the modern ghost story with an intimacy that only live theatre can provide,” per its press notes.

Paranormal Activity premiered at the Leeds Playhouse in 2024 before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End, where it received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination this year for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Here is the official synopsis: James (Travis A. Knight) and Lou (Cher Álvarez) move from Chicago to London to escape their past, but they soon discover that places aren’t haunted, people are.” Shannon Cochran and Eva Kaminsky also star in the show, which is set for a limited 20-week run.
