Stella Lefty‘s new song “Boston” is climbing the charts and she’s opening up about the inspiration for the song.

The 23-year-old rising star interpolates Noah Kahan‘s “Stick Season” on the new track, which is expected to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the upcoming chart.

Stella sings on the chorus, “On a train back to Boston and we’re jumpin’ the gun / And I’m tellin’ you baby, ‘This the part wher? I’d run’ / But I like it when you’re nic?, like it when you’re nice to me.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Stella explained that she started writing the song while waiting for her boyfriend, musician Vincent Mason, to pick her up for a date early on in their relationship.

“I thought, ‘I’ll just sit at the piano and see what happens,’” Stella said. “It did so well that I was honestly confused, because I didn’t really love the song yet. Then I was like, ‘I guess I need to finish it!’”

“I love country music more than anything,” she added. “It’s just what I love with my f–king heart and soul. But I’m not Southern. I always worried, ‘Do I have to be?’”
