Venice Film Festival has revealed the lineup for this year’s masterclasses, featuring George Clooney, Ellen Burstyn, Luca Guadagnino and more.
The masterclasses will once again take place at the Lido’s Match Point Arena, which can seat 250 guests, and will also be livestreamed on the festival’s website. In addition to Clooney and Burstyn, who are both receiving Venice’s Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at this year’s edition, French filmmaker Luc Besson is also set to give a masterclass. Clooney’s talk is scheduled for Sept. 3 at 4 p.m., Besson’s is Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. and Burstyn’s Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, Guadagnino and “Hamnet” director Chloé Zhao will participate in masterclasses themed around “The Art and Craft of Cinema” presented by Cartier. Guadagnino, who will be honored with Cartier’s Glory to the Filmmaker Award during this year’s fest, will deliver his class on Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m. Zhao will be in conversation with Polish cinematographer Lukasz Zal, her collaborator on “Hamnet,” with the event taking place Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
