As the media personality remains hospitalized after appearing to engage in self-harm during an Aug. 4 TikTok livestream, his agent has shared a statement.
“At this time, we do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition,” Hilton’s agent Dante Rusciolelli told Us Weekly in a statement Aug. 5. “Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Rusciolelli emphasized that Hilton’s loved ones remain “grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from fans, friends and members of the media.”
Going forward, however, the 48-year-old’s agent requested privacy on his behalf.
“We respectfully ask that everyone continue to honor his privacy,” he concluded. “while he receives the care he needs.”
E! News has reached out to Rusciolelli regarding his latest update but has not yet heard back.
Hilton (real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) was hospitalized after police were dispatched to his Miami home following reports he was engaging in self-harm following his TikTok livestream Aug. 4. The since-removed livestream, per NBC News, saw Hilton covered in blood while holding what appeared to be a knife.
“The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media," authorities told E! News in a statement. "Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside."
The longtime celebrity blogger was taken to a local hospital where authorities confirmed the individual, subsequently confirmed to be Hilton by his team, is “receiving medical attention.” Miami authorities noted that Hilton was alone in his home during his crisis and mental health professionals were also present in the aftermath “providing support and resources to the individual’s family.
Hilton’s hospitalization comes just months after he shared insight into a separate health battle, sharing he had undergone a 21-day inpatient treatment for sepsis and a blood clot back in April.
“I'm so grateful,” Hilton—dad to three young kids—said in an April 2 video update, “because this is a blessing from God. We caught this early.”
As he put it, “I'm so thankful to God that we caught this early because, if that blood clot had gone to my lungs or my heart, it could've been real bad."
