Adamari López is one of the most beloved personalities on Spanish-language TV, hosting Univision‘s daytime talk show Desiguales, the UniMás game show ¿Quién Caerá?, and the new weekly primetime talent competition ¿Quién es Mejor?

Being on television daily is something the Puerto Rican host and actress doesn’t take for granted and is appreciative of the Latino audience that has embraced her over the years.

“For me, being in close contact with the public is marvelous,” López told Deadline. “Having the opportunity to travel and be close with the audience, for whom we make television, is always marvelous. I always like to be close and listen to their proposals and thank them for the love and support that they’ve given me throughout my career.”

López has been one of the co-hosts of Desiguales, a daily talk show in the same vein as ABC’s The View, where a group of women shares their takes on everyday topics.

“Univision has given us a platform to talk about topics with our audience that affect us all, which helps us overcome them or gives us a different point of view,” she said. “My colleagues are great, and we’re very different; we’re from different nationalities, [and] different ages.”

She continued, “At the beginning we didn’t know how the audience would receive us or how we would share our opinions and be respectful … I think the audience has liked [the show] a lot and has identified themselves in different ways with us as they get to know us more.”

Aside from her hosting duties, López is also the ambassador for DirecTV and the plan MiEspañol, which helps the star keep connected to Latino audiences across the U.S.

Over the years, López has shared her journey as a mother, and recently her daughter Alaïa joined her as a co-host of ¿Quién Caerá? Kids, a quiz game show on UniMas.

“During the first season, we were nervous because we didn’t know how everything would turn out,” López said about working with her daughter. “As a mother, I was nervous about making sure she was comfortable, that she didn’t feel that it was an obligation, but when we started, she enjoyed it a lot, and she was very hopeful.”

López has been open about her life throughout her career, but something she wouldn’t want to do is a 24/7 reality show like Big Brother, telling us, “I don’t visualize myself [in a show like that].”

“I think that would be very difficult being away from my daughter,” she added. “Being without contact with her would emotionally complicate things and it would affect me a lot. If I had to decide right now, it would be a no, but no one ever knows how the tables might turn and who knows what the future will have.”
