Frankie Grande knows his sister Ariana Grande is there to offer the best advice every time.
That’s why, as he prepared to return to Broadway in Titanique, he turned to the Grammy winner a quick pre-show remedy.
“I asked her vocal advice,” Frankie told E! News in an exclusive interview. “I did because I was having trouble because I had a sinus infection.”
“This was like during rehearsals,” he continued. “And I was steaming, steaming, steaming, steaming, and she was like, 'Bro, you're over-steaming.' And I was like 'You can do that?'”
Admitting that was attempting the congestion remedy for upwards of an hour and a half daily, Ariana offered him a more streamlined solution.
“She was like 'Chill! Do 30 minutes. Do 15. Stop,'” he noted, and as a result of following her guidance, he added, “and I got better after that.”
Though the Wicked actress was there to offer some support Frankie’s no stranger to the stage—or Titanique. The actor, who made his Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! in 2006, originated the role of Victor Garber during the Celine Dion-tracked jukebox musical’s Off-Broadway run.
And as he returned to the Great White Way for his latest run, he reminisced about his and Ariana’s beginnings on Broadway during the late aughts.
“It was fun because I kind of raised her,” the 43-year-old said of Ariana’s early days onstage in 13. “She was raised coming to my Broadway show and then immediately she was on Broadway.”
“In those days I was her mentor for a lot of time,” he continued. “And it's very emotional thinking about the journey that we've been on together and where we are and how closer we are in this situation.”
But beyond occasionally swapping small tips, Frankie and Ariana have moved past sharing career advice. Instead, it’s all about being present for their big moments.
“Now it's just coming to the audience to support each other,” the “Rhythm of Love” singer said. “Because we know what we're doing at this point.”
Frankie can also count on seeing his loved ones in the crowd as he and the cast take the stage for the retelling of the 1997 movie Titanic through the eyes of Celine. In fact, though Ariana, their mom Joan Grande and his husband Hale Leon were cheering him on when Titanique was Off-Broadway, his mom and Hale have already been around the St. James Theatre for his latest venture.
"My mom was here last night,” he told E! News. “And she was like, 'I love the show so much and you're doing so wonderfully.’ My husband will be here."
Let’s end on: Titanique, now in previews, opens on Broadway for its limited run on April 12.
