Bethesda has officially announced that remastered versions of classic Fallout games 3 and New Vegas are on the way, but there’s still no news about a release date.
There has been plenty of speculation about updated versions of Fallout: New Vegas (which was originally released in 2010) and 2008’s Fallout 3 in recent years. Fallout boss Todd Howard recently teased that Bethesda were working on the thing fans wanted, but didn’t go into any more detail. Earlier this year, fans were left disappointed after a mysterious countdown around Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout adaptation didn’t end with news about remastered versions of the classic games.
However in a lengthy post on social media, Bethesda has finally confirmed that they’re working on Fallout: New Vegas Remastered and Fallout 3 Remastered. “We know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas,” they wrote.

“Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today. Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now,” they added before confirming that New Vegas developers Obsidian are also working on a new Fallout game. They also announced Fallout 3 prequel Raven Rock is coming to 76 next year.
Back in 2022, Howard revealed that Fallout 5 would be released after The Elder Scrolls 6 and despite the success of the Amazon Prime Video adaptation, that’s still the plan.
“Fallout 5 is currently in preproduction [while] The Elder Scrolls 6 is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise,” Bethesda explained. “With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel. The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.” According to reports, The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t launch until 2028 at the earliest.
In other news, Game Of Thrones video game adaptation War For Westeros has been delayed until 2027 to “ensure the game reaches [a] high level of quality”.
