Mandy Moore is open to a music comeback, but she doesn’t think her return will look anything like BFF Hilary Duff‘s recent comeback.

In a new interview while promoting her new ABCmouse back-to-school campaign, Mandy chatted about watching her friend Hilary take over the world with her music this past year.

“I feel like my music doesn’t serve quite the same purpose in the world, and that’s totally fine,” Mandy told Yahoo while comparing herself to Hilary. “I will get back to it eventually and in my own way. I’ve never had designs on having a gigantic pop career. That’s just not in the cards for me, but I’ll do it in my own way somehow, somewhere.”

Mandy still wants to make new music so she can bring joy to her fans.

“If I can deliver some modicum of that joy to people, I would be so happy. What a superpower,” Mandy said. “I’ve seen her now play multiple shows, and just looking around at the crowd, everyone has a smile on their face. Everyone’s forgetting about whatever crap they have on their plate at home. That is the coolest thing in the world, to be able to just make people feel this degree of joy.”

Mandy is planning on making music with husband Taylor Goldsmith, just like Hilary did with her husband Matthew Koma.

“I’ll get back on the road,” she added. “I’m going to make music with Taylor again at some point, and we’ll bring the tour out there.”

Mandy has partnered with ABCmouse, a kids’ education app, to encourage fans to make learning a part of everyday life.
