EXCLUSIVE: The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced on Wednesday that Gotham Week 2026 will take place in New York City from September 27 through October 3 .

Attendees will have access to The Gotham’s Project Market — which has now opened submissions — along with the Gotham Week Expo, Gotham Week Honors, expanded screenings, a full day of Filmmaker Magazine programming, and more.

“Gotham Week brings together filmmakers, industry leaders, and film lovers to spark the connections that shape careers and drive the industry forward,” said The Gotham Deputy Director Kia Brooks. “We’re proud to welcome creators and audiences alike to one of the most vital moments on the independent film calendar with expanded programming and new opportunities for creators at every stage of their journey.”

The Gotham Week’s Project Market — the longest-running and largest curated marketplace of its kind in the United States — is a meetings-driven forum connecting new fiction and documentary projects with industry executives interested in identifying projects for development, financing, or distribution. Past industry participants have included A24, HBO Doc, IFC Films, Neon, Sony Pictures Classics, Mubi, Sundance Institute, WME, SFFilm, SXSW, Tribeca, Walt Disney Studios, and more.

Recent Project Market alumni include Poh Si Teng’s American Doctor (2026 Sundance Premiere, Watermelon Pictures), Jennifer Holness and Sidney Fussell’s #WhileBlack (2026 SXSW Premiere), Sean Wang’s Dìdi (弟弟) (Focus Features), Raven Jackson’s All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt (A24), Tayarisha Poe’s Selah and the Spades (Amazon), Jessica Kingdon’s Ascension (MTV Documentary Films), Nikyatu Jusu’s Nanny (Amazon), Laurel Parmet’s The Starling Girl (Bleecker Street), Michael Dweck & Gregory Kershaw’s The Truffle Hunters (Sony Pictures Classics), and Rachel Lears’ Knock Down the House (Netflix).
