Netflix has unveiled the full trailer for its reimagining of Little House on the Prairie.
“This will be our new forever,” Alice Halsey’s Laura Ingalls says after her Pa, Charles Ingalls (Luke Bracey), says they came to Independence, Kansas for a fresh start.
Based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the first season of the show will hit Netflix July 9, and it has already been renewed for a second season.
As Ma, Caroline Ingalls (Crosby Fitzgerald), learns there’s “no post office, no church, no school” from Barrett Doss’ Emily, Laura smiles and excitedly mouths “no school” to her older sister Mary (Skywalker Hughes).
Ma remarks on how small the town is, but Charles is hopeful, suggesting they wanted to be “at the beginning of something.”
But the hope and awe turn to wariness as Pa and Laura meet Mitchell (Meegwun Fairbrother) and his daughter Good Eagle (Wren Zhawenim Gotts) by the creek, and though the Ingalls are friendly, the Osage Native Americans hesitate to engage.
“There’s nothing free about this land at all,” John Edwards (Warren Christie) tells Charles, who in turn tells Mitchell he can’t have strangers “walking into my house uninvited.”
“I think they’d say the same thing,” Mitchell responds.
In addition to the tension with the Native Americans, the Ingalls face fever, wolves and a prairie fire to name a few events teased in the clip.
“It’s a myth that men can make it out here alone,” Jocko Sims’ Dr. Tann tells Charles.
Little House on the Prairie also stars Alyssa Wapanatâhk (White Sun), Xander Cole (Little Puma), Ryan Robbins (Russell), Barrett Doss (Emily), Mary Holland (Jemma James), Michael Hough (Eli James), Kowen Cadorath (Caleb), Thosh Collins (Louis), Maclean Fish (Adam Scott), and Rebecca Amzallag (Lacey).
Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the Little House on the Prairie remake. The executive producing team also includes Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox. Directors featured in the first season of the series include Sarah Adina Smith (101), Julie Anne Robinson (102, 103), Kat Candler (104, 105), Erica Tremblay (106), and Sydney Freeland (107, 108).
