Music from the Michael Jackson biopic Michael dominates Billboard‘s Top Movie Songs chart, powered by Tunefind (a Songtradr company), for May 2026 on the heels of the film’s late-April theatrical release.

Rankings for the Top Movie Songs chart are based on song and film data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Luminate during the corresponding period of May 2026. The ranking generally includes newly released films from the preceding three months, with exceptions given to movies whose music is still experiencing a high volume of public interest.

It’s the first time since the July 2025 edition of the chart that music from KPop Demon Hunters has not reigned on Top Movie Songs, as the film’s soundtrack has officially been retired from the tally as of this month following HUNTR/X‘s “Golden” reaching recurrency on the Billboard Hot 100.

Back to Michael: After “Billie Jean” bowed at No. 3 on the April 2026 Top Movie Songs survey, the 1983 tune rules May’s list on the strength of 84.2 million official streams and 8,000 downloads sold in the United States that month, according to Luminate. Those metrics drove the song, which reigned for seven weeks on the Hot 100 in its time, back onto the weekly chart, rising as high as No. 15 on the May 23 ranking.

Top Movie Songs’ top three is made up of Michael titles; “Beat It” follows at No. 2 (62.4 million streams, 7,000 downloads), while “Human Nature” rounds out the top three (59.5 million streams, 7,000 downloads).

In all, the biopic, released April 24, occupies seven of the chart’s 10 positions, including six of the top seven. The other song in that region is The Chemical Brothers‘ “Go,” from Apex, at No. 4, via 10.8 million streams and 14,000 downloads. Originally reaching No. 40 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in 2015, “Go” broke back onto the list thanks to its Apex-fueled virality, reaching No. 3 for three weeks.
