There’s no doubt that Love Island USA was the show of the summer, but it appears U.S. television audiences have had some diverse taste as of late, particularly over the July 4 holiday.

The Peacock reality series generated another 1.9B minutes viewed to return to No. 1 on the Nielsen streaming charts for the third time in Season 8 and only the fourth time ever, per the measurement company’s latest report for the week of June 29 to July 5. The latest season represented about 94% of viewing this interval.

That put the series at 8.7B minutes viewed across all episodes since Season 8 premiered on June 2, which marked an increase of about 1.8 billion minutes (+26%) compared to the equivalent timeframe in 2025, Nielsen said.

However, the reality dating series was one of four television offerings to cross 1B minutes viewed in the same week. The second place series should not come as a surprise. Harlan Coben‘s I Will Find You was actually slightly down from the week prior but still managed to tally 1.1B minutes viewed. Despite having just eight episodes, I Will Find You passed 1B minutes in each of its three weeks of availability.

Netflix claimed the other two of four titles as well: Avatar: The Last Airbender and Worst Neighbor Ever.

Paramount+ original Dutton Ranch captured 827M minutes over its nine episodes during this week, which was also the week of the season finale. The series charted in the Top 10 every week since its two-episode series premiere, totaling over 6B total viewing minutes.

On the acquired side of things, House of the Dragon put up strong numbers across HBO and HBO Max. It drove 912M minutes viewed during this week.

In film, Project Hail Mary debuted on Prime Video to 860M minutes viewed in its first three days. This is a big delayed-viewing win for the Andy Weir novel directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which hit MGM+ first in homes on June 18 after a 90-day theatrical window. It landed on Prime Video a few weeks later on July 3.

Prime Video’s Elle also arrived during this week, ranking No. 7 among streaming originals with 499M minutes viewed. That series has already been renewed for Season 2, though Amazon has not released much of its own data on its Season 1 performance.

Interestingly, Nielsen also flags an annual tradition might be forming. For the third consecutive year, the 1996 sci-fi thriller Independence Day landed among the Top 10 most-streamed films of the week with 331M minutes viewed (its highest Top 10 viewing total to date).
