Netflix was quick to renew Funny AF, Kevin Hart‘s stand-up competition series launched in April — and now, it’s clear why.

While widely embraced by the comedy community as an effort to elevate a new generation of comedy stars at a time when comedy talent incubation has been deprioritized, the show has also drummed up huge viewership.

Between various audition and callback episodes, a Marshawn Lynch roast, live semifinals and finale eps and more, the show generated 41.8M views in its first season, as highlighted in the latest installment of Netflix’s What We Watched report released Thursday, which charts film & TV viewership from Jan-June 2026.

Set to unveil the new comedy 72 Hours on Netflix on July 24, Hart has already had a big year at the streamer, between the success of Funny AF and The Roast of Kevin Hart, which aired live during this year’s Netflix Is a Joke Fest. (Hart’s roast was barely edged out in first-half-year performance by Tom Brady’s from 2024, with 21.1M views in less than a month, compared to Brady’s 22.4M.)

Meanwhile, it’s also a big year for Hart’s 72 Hours co-star Marcello Hernández, whose debut special American Boy, released in January, ranks as the second most watched of the year to date, with 9.2M views.

The stat reflects Hernández’s pull as a next-generation comedy star: he was only bested on the What We Watched Report by Katt Williams‘ The Last Report, which has brought in 11.5M views since February. Williams has featured on all past What We Watched reports with at least one special, though this is his highest performing out of the gate by over a million views.

In addition to Williams, Hernández finds himself in the company of Mike Epps, whose special Delusional ranked third with 6.6M views since January; Ricky Gervais, whose late 2025 hour Mortality has pulled in 6.4M views since top of year, and Dave Chappelle, whose The Unstoppable brought in 4.8M. This, after topping Netflix’s last chart for July-Dec 2025 with 14M views.
