The final two seasons of Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City reign have been captured for an Amazon docuseries from Plan B and Kevin Macdonald. Check out a teaser below.
Guardiola, one of the most successful Premier League managers of all time, is leaving Manchester City this summer after winning six Premier League titles and numerous other trophies.
The four-part docuseries capturess the end of his tenure. The series opens as City’s record-breaking run of 26 games unbeaten comes to a shuddering halt, with a string of defeats in late 2024 leaving Guardiola visibly shaken. Focus then shifts to the boardroom as the club initiates a major rebuild, with star player Kevin De Bruyne’s emotional departure and the arrival of new talent. Gradually, a new look squad rediscovers its identity.
Guardiola has had success in numerous countries and is seen as one of the greatest managers of all time, although he wasn’t quite able to end on a high as Arsenal narrowly took the Premier League title last month.
The doc, which returns to City after Prime Video‘s All or Nothing strand captured its 2017-18 title-winning season, brings together some big talent in the shape of Oscar-winner Macdonald and Plan B/KM Films, his JV with Plan B. City’s in-house facility City Studios is also producing. All or Nothing has followed numerous sports teams down the years.
The series is directed by Macdonald alongside City Studios’ John De Caux and produced by Macdonald for Plan B/KM Films, and Gavin Johnson and Ged Doherty for City Studios.
In 2024, Manchester City’s parent group and Sony Pictures Television struck a strategic deal to co-develop and produce scripted, non-fiction and kids programs.
