With three days to go until the world premiere of Minions & Monsters at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Universal’s Illumination has released an extended trailer for the movie.

The latest adventure of the mischievous army of yellow underlings first introduced in 2010 breakout Despicable Me, sees the Minions land in the Golden Age of Hollywood where they unintentionally unleash a monster on Tinseltown as they try to make a movie.

Following hot on the heels of 2024 Despicable Me 4 and in the wake of previous two Minions-focused movies Minions (2015) and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022), the film expands the Minions universe and introduces all-new characters.

The voice cast includes Oscar winners Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges as well as nominees Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Trey Parker, co-creator of South Park, as well as Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan and Phil LaMarr (Futurama, King of the Hill).

Pierre Coffin, director of the first three Despicable Me films and the first Minions film, directs and continues to provide the unintelligible voices for the Minions.

The film is written by Brian Lynch (Minions, The Secret Life of Pets films) and Coffin and is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Bill Ryan. The executive producer is Brian Lynch.

Annecy’s opening night premiere on Sunday kicks off a preview tour ahead of a worldwide launch on July 1.
